President offers incense to commemorate Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu

(BNP) - On the occasion of 110th birthday of Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu (July 9, 1912 - July 9, 2022), President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on July 9 offered incense at the General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu memorial area (Phu Khe ward, Tu Son city).


Leaders of the Party, State and province offer incense in front of the statue of Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu.

Attending the incense offering ceremony were Mr. Nong Duc Manh, former member of the Politburo, former General Secretary of the Party Central Committee; Mr. Vo Van Thuong, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat; Mr. Do Van Chien, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Le Van Thanh, Deputy Prime Minister; members of the Party Central Committee; leaders of central ministries, departments and branches.

Bac Ninh province’s participants at the ceremony were Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies Dao Hong Lan; Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huong Giang; Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vuong Quoc Tuan; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, the Provincial Permanent People's Council, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of provincial departments, branches, sectors and mass organizations, Tu Son city and family members of General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu.

President Phuc offered incense and flowers at Nguyen Van Cu's memorial site in Phu Khe ward, Tu Son city, Bac Ninh province and left a tribute-paying note, which describes Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu as an outstanding communist and leader of the Vietnamese Party and revolution, who had a strategic vision and set a shining example of revolutionary morality and the spirit of self-study, training and growth through the practice of revolutionary struggle.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu was born on July 9, 1912 into a patriotic Confucian family in Phu Khe village, Tu Son district, Bac Ninh province. He was the 17th generation descendant of the national hero, world cultural celebrity Nguyen Trai. He was elected Party General Secretary at the age of 26 (in 1938) and heroically died at the age of 29 (in 1941).
