(BNP) - According to report of Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the first quarter of 2020, despite peak time of spring festival season, the tourism industry faces many difficulties due to effects of the Covid-19 epidemic including most travel agencies and hotels when many tours, routes and rooms are canceled and the number of passengers is significantly reduced.
Few tourists in Bac Ninh due to Covid-19.
In the first 3 months of 2020, Bac Ninh province welcomed about 170,000 tourists, an decrease of 64% compared with same period of last year and 10% of the plan. Total tourism revenue was estimated at VND 145 billion, an decrease of 76% compared with same period in 2019. By the end of March 2020, more than 670 organizations and individuals carried out tourism business activities in the province. Among them, 20 were travel and passenger transport; 638 were accommodation facilities with nearly 8,400 rooms ...
Given these difficulties, the culture, sports and tourism sector has quickly taken preventive measures to ensure safety for local people and tourists. Specifically, all big festivals in the province were canceled following direction of the Government and the Provincial People's Committee; travel agencies were requested to cancel tours and stop transferring tourists from epidemic areas to Bac Ninh and vice versa; actively clean and disinfect accommodation service facilities and classify customers for proper monitoring. On the other hand, the sector also coordinate with localities to survey and select accommodation facilities far from the center which meet conditions for making centralized isolation facilities in case the epidemic broke out with complicated developments.
In the coming time, the sector of culture, sports and tourism will continue to propagandize, popularize and instruct tourism businesses to strictly follow all guidance on the prevention and control of Covid-19, while at the same time, strengthen cooperation and linkage with provinces and cities throughout the country for the development of tours, tourist routes and destinations so as to promote and build new products for tourist attraction when the epidemic is over, making new momentum for tourism growth in the province.
