Bac Ninh strives to become centrally-run city by end of 2026

The objective of the Plan is to determine the roadmap, assign specific tasks and responsibilities to relevant agencies and units in developing and completing documents and procedures to submit to competent authorities. By the end of 2026, Bac Ninh province will officially become a centrally-governed city, including 2 districts (Bac Ninh and Tu Son), 2 cities (Tien Du and Yen Phong), 2 towns (Thuan Thanh and Que Vo) and 2 districts (Gia Binh and Luong Tai).

The plan focuses on the following contents: Reviewing and perfecting the political and legal bases, regulations and standards of the Central Government on the establishment of centrally-run cities, ensuring compliance with current documents; establishing a general urban planning for the entire province, clearly defining the inner city area and affiliated administrative units; establishing an urban development program for the area planned to establish a centrally-run city; making a project to classify type I urban areas for the urban area of ​​centrally-run cities; establishing a zoning plan for the area planned to establish districts and wards within districts of centrally-run cities; preparing a report assessing the level of urban infrastructure development for the area expected to establish districts and wards in districts of centrally-run cities; carrying out urban planning for Tien Du and Yen Phong and zoning plans for communes and towns and a report assessing the level of urban infrastructure development for the area expected to establish wards in Tien Du city and Yen Phong city; prepaing a project to classify Tu Son city to meet the criteria of a type I urban area, Que Vo town and Thuan Thanh town to meet the criteria of a type III urban area. Bac Ninh province has clearly outlined the project's implementation plan, as well as the roadmap and tasks to be completed in order to submit the dossier and procedures to the competent authority for decision.  Strive to submit the Project to establish Bac Ninh City under the Central Government to the Provincial People's Council for approval in the second quarter of 2026, with approval expected from the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Assembly in the fourth quarter.
