Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee commends officials, people and businesses for taking action to handle environmental pollution in Van Mon commune
(BNP) - On November 26, at the meeting of the Party Executive Committee of the Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) and the meeting between the Chairman and Vice Chairmen, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the PPC chaired and highly appreciated the spirit of determination of the members in the inspection team, leaders of Yen Phong district, especially the high consensus and support of the people and production facilities in the most polluted handicraft village in Vietnam (Van Mon commune, Yen Phong district).

According to the report of the provincial interdisciplinary inspection team, up to now, the team has inspected 94/94 production facilities in the industrial cluster; made 95 inspection and working records, and discovered 776 violations of the law on environment, fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue, planning and construction.
The PPC has decided to punish 43 establishments in the industrial cluster with a total of nearly VND 21.4 billion. 65 establishments voluntarily demolished their incinerators and smoke pipes (7 establishments in the industrial cluster; 58 establishments in the handicraft village). The owners of production households agreed to the environmental pollution treatment policy of the province and Yen Phong district. They committed to self-demolish and correct violations. Up to now, basically all production establishments in Van Mon commune have ceased operations.
With the achieved results, the provincial leaders commended the drastic and synchronous participation of departments and branches, and the responsibility of people and businesses as well as the support of people from all social strata for the province’s important political task in handling environmental pollution.
In the coming time, the goal of Yen Phong district is that by December 10, all furnaces and tools serving the aluminum and scrap casting in residential areas must be demolished as well as turn off all 3-phase electricity in the industrial cluster and its production facilities.
