Effectively deploy national target programs for period 2021–2025

(BNP) - On March 8, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang, Head of the Central Steering Committee for National Target Programs for the 2021–2025 period (Central Steering Committee) chaired an online meeting with localities on the progress of implementing the National Target Programs (NTPs) in 2023 and the first 2 months of 2024; key tasks and solutions in the coming time.

According to the report of the Central Steering Committee, in 2023 and the first 2 months of 2024, the whole country had about 78% of communes meeting new rural standards, with an average of 17.1 criteria per community nationwide. There were 280 district-level units in 58 provinces and centrally-run cities that have been recognized by the Prime Minister for completing the task of meeting new rural standards. The rate of poor households according to the multidimensional poverty standard in 2023 was 2.93%. The disbursement rate of budget capital in 2023 reached 61.5%; in the first 2 months of 2024, it reached 15%.

At the meeting, participants focused on discussing, analyzing, and clarifying the results, difficulties, and problems. At the same time, they proposed solutions to overcome difficulties in the process of implementing the National Target Programs.

In Bac Ninh province, 100% of communes and districts in the province maintained the quality of criteria to meet new rural standards in the 2016–2020 period. Until now, Bac Ninh has been one of 19 provinces and centrally run cities, with 100% of communes recognized as meeting new rural standards. The poverty rate is 0.75% (lower than the national poverty rate); the rate of near-poor households is 1.02%.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang acknowledged and highly appreciated the outstanding achievement of ministries, departments, and branches at the Central Government, provinces, and cities in implementing the National Target Programs during the period. At the same time, he requested ministries, branches, and localities to review relevant documents to propose and advise on corrections, additions, and improvements to appropriate mechanisms and policies to effectively implement the National Target Programs. .

Speaking at the Bac Ninh’s venue, Vice Chairman Ngo Tan Phuong requested local departments, branches, and sectors to follow the instructions of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang. At the same time, he urged the relevant units to promote propaganda and education and raise awareness and responsibility among party members, leaders, and all walks of life implementing the National Target Programs.
