(BNP) - In the morning of November 3rd, the groundbreaking ceremony of the restoration of Bach Mon pagoda, which is a historical and cultural relic, was taken place in Long Kham village, Viet Doan commune, Tien Du district.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Khac Dinh, Member of the Central Party Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Legal Committee of the National Assembly; Mr. Nguyen Nhan Chien, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies; Mr. Nguyen Huu Quat, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrades in the Party Standing Committee, Standing People's Council, People's Committee, Provincial Fatherland Front; The Most Venerable Thich Thanh Dung, Deputy Patriarch of Patronage Council of Vietnam Buddhism Sangha and a number of monks, nuns, Buddhist followers in and outside the province.

The project of restoration of the historical and cultural relic, Bach Mon pagoda, has a total cost of nearly VND 70 billion implemented in 4 years (from 2018 to 2022) by social mobilization capital. It has an area of nearly 8,300m2 including the main items such as the main gate, three jewels, lecture hall, Buddhist house, and other auxiliary items... Restoration of Bach Mon pagoda plays the great important significance in order to restore the unique architecture and show respect for history and tradition. At the same time, it will become an attractive destination for Buddhists and tourists, contributing to the development of tourism, culture, and economy of the locality.

At the ceremony, leaders of the central and provincial agencies performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the restoration of the cultural-historical site, Bach Mon pagoda. On this occasion, donors have contributed to the project with an amount of nearly VND 10 billion.

According to the historical documents, Bach Mon Pagoda was built in the Ly dynasty and restored many times with the financial contribution of aristocratic monarchs, especially in the Mac Dynasty when the movement to revive Buddhism took place strongly. In 1930, Bach Mon pagoda was evaluated as the unique temple in Indochina. In 1998, the pagoda was ranked as a historical cultural site of the province.
