Implementing Prime Minister's Decision on organizing 2025 rural and agricultural census

(BNP) - On December 18, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, Head of the Central Steering Committee for the 2025 Rural and Agricultural Census, chaired a national online conference to implement Decision No. 484/QD-TTg dated June 7, 2024 of the Prime Minister on organizing the 2025 Rural and Agricultural Census.

On February 15, 2023, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 03/2023/QD-TTg on promulgating the National Statistical Investigation Program, which stipulates that the general census of rural and agricultural areas is conducted every 10 years in years with odd numbers of 5. On June 7, 2024, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 484/QD-TTg on organizing the 2025 rural and agricultural census. 2025 is the 6th agricultural census organized in Vietnam and will be conducted nationwide on July 1, 2025.

To prepare for and organize the 2025 National Population Census, the Ministry of Planning and Investment developed and advised on the implementation of a number of tasks: Completing the legal basis for implementing the 2025 National Population Census; establishing an implementation organization system; determining the content of the 2025 National Population Census; designing the 2025 National Population Census and information collection methods; and developing an implementation budget estimate.

To date, 63/63 provinces and centrally run cities have established provincial steering committees. Each provincial steering committee has about 10 members, headed by the Chairman or a Vice Chairman of the province or centrally run city.

The 2025 Census Plan includes 10 items as prescribed in Article 31 of the Statistics Law, specifically: Purpose and requirements of the survey; subjects, units and scope of the survey; type of survey; time, duration and method of information collection; content, survey form; statistical classification used in the survey;...

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh emphasized that the results of the census will be the basis for assessing the current situation as well as the results of implementing national target programs on industrialization, modernization of agriculture, rural areas and new rural construction.

At the same time, it is the basis for building plans and strategies for rural and agricultural development and improving the living standards of rural residents nationwide as well as in each locality.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the Central Steering Committee and local Steering Committees at all levels to report on the preparation and readiness for the census.
