Viem Xa village – the original birthplace of Quan Ho folk singing

Viem village (full name of Viem Xa) of Hoa Long ward, Bac Ninh city. It is likely that Viem Xa village keeps much more traditional features than other place. Viem Xa people are honest and frank. Also this village preserves the variety of tangible and intangible cultural heritages.

Viem Xa village lies among a lot of villages that making worship to the Holy mother, kings such as Ba Chua Kho temple in Co Me, Ba Chua Sanh temple, Ba Chua Lam in Van An, Thu Ninh temple commemorating Ba Chua fighting against ChieM Thanh Invader; Dong Mau temple in Thi Cau, Ba Banh temple in Dong Yen, Chua Choa temple in Chan Lac, etc. It is shown that the ancient people explored this wild land, built up the village and did farming there long time ago.

Viem Xa village is developing with the newly expanded roads. Many historic relics have been well restored. There is a great number of visitors here. In every festival (in pagodas, temples), there are a lot of romantic Quan Ho performances by many groups of male and female singers (liền anh, liền chị) throughout the night. Nơ, Viem Xa village organize the Quan Ho group of hundreds of singers of many generation including both old and young artists. Many families of three generations like singing Quan Ho folk song. Such tradition is kept fine in the birthplace of Quan Ho in Bac Ninh - Kinh Bac.
