Chairwoman of Provincial People's Committee exchanges cooperation and promotes investment in South Africa, Qatar and UAE
(BNP) - From May 21 - 30, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) Nguyen Huong Giang had a business trip to a number of countries in West Asia and the African Continent, including South Africa, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates to exchange, cooperate and promote investment in Bac Ninh province.

*From May 21 to 25, PPC’s Chairwoman Nguyen Huong Giang and the delegation worked in South Africa.
Here, the delegation of Bac Ninh province worked with the Western Cape Tourism, Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (South Africa). Ms. Van der Merwe, Head of the Western Cape Investment Promotion Department received and worked with the delegation. Mr. Hoang Sy Cuong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in South Africa also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Chairwoman Nguyen Huong Giang briefed partners on Bac Ninh’s cultural, and socio-economic development situation. She said that, in recent years, Bac Ninh province has made outstanding achievements in all fields; it is a growth pole and always among the most developed provinces in the country. To date, the province has issued investment registrations for over 2,200 projects from 41 countries and territories investing in 16 industries, mainly the manufacturing and processing industry (part of which is the electronics industry).

The Chairwoman asked Ms. Van der Merwe to help and connect South African businesses and investors to learn about investing in the province in fields such as: green investment projects, high-tech industry (energy batteries, semiconductors, chips, etc), supporting industries, electronics industry and information technology, high-tech and agriculture, high-end commercial and service complexes; infrastructure investment projects, urban development, ecology and so on. At the same time, the two sides jointly support the implementation of information exchange activities, the promotion of unique cultural values, heritages, and famous destinations among the people of South Africa and Bac Ninh; strengthen trade exchanges and trade connections to promote the import and export of goods so that products and goods are widely known and consumed in the markets of both sides, she added.

On the afternoon of May 24, during the working session with Chairman of the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) Xulu, Chairwoman Nguyen Huong Giang expressed her pleasure to know that SACCI is the agency representing the voice of the South African business community, which helps build and maintain business relationships between South African businesses and international partners to promote trade and investment, provide support services for businesses, etc.
The Chairwoman hoped that SACCI would support Bac Ninh province to promote and attract South African businesses to invest in the province; introduce and promote the national image and Bac Ninh brand to consumers and the business community in South Africa; as well as introduce the potential and preferential policies of the localities to South African investors and businesses.

On the afternoon of May 25, the delegation of Bac Ninh province had a courtesy meeting with Mr. Hoang Sy Cuong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in South Africa. On behalf of the delegation, the Chairwoman respectfully thanked the Ambassador and Embassy officials for spending their time to receive and actively support the delegation's work program in South Africa.
The Chairwoman expressed her hope to receive assistance from the Ambassador in introducing South African businesses to invest in Bac Ninh, increasing support for the province to implement information exchange activities and promoting unique cultural values, heritage sites, and famous tourist destinations to South Africans. In the forth coming time, the Ambassador needed to pay attention to promoting the people of South Africa to support Bac Ninh by lobbying UNESCO to soon recognize Dong Ho folk painting craft as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection for humanity, as well as create favorable conditions for the Bac Ninh community in South Africa to live, study and work, thereby, contributing to socio-economic development.

On the morning of May 27, Bac Ninh province organized an Investment Promotion Discussion Program with large businesses and corporations in Qatar. Mr. Tran Duc Hung, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Qatar attended the program.
PPC’s Chairwoman Nguyen Huong Giang thanked representatives from agencies, organizations, and business communities in Qatar for spending the time to attend a talk with the theme "Bac Ninh – A place of production choice for foreign enterprises in Vietnam" to learn about the investment environment in Bac Ninh Province.
Chairwoman Nguyen Huong Giang affirmed that after more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations (1993-2024), the relationship between Vietnam and Qatar has developed extensively in all fields such as politics, diplomacy, trade, investment, labor and culture and education. Qatar is considered a major and potential trade partner of Vietnam in the Middle East. Bac Ninh province also paid great attention to promoting cooperation with Qatari partners. This is an opportunity for businesses to learn more about the preferential policies and investment environment of Bac Ninh province, thereby promoting bilateral economic and trade cooperation activities.
She hoped that through the talk, Qatari businesses would better understand the potential, advantages, and investment environment of Bac Ninh province, as well as the needs of Qatari partners.

On behalf of the delegation, Chairwoman Nguyen Huong Giang respectfully thanked Ambassador Tran Duc Hung and the staff at the Vietnamese Embassy in Qatar for supporting the delegation in connecting and successfully organizing the talk.
The Chairwoman hoped that the Ambassador would pay attention and support Bac Ninh province to promote and attract Qatari businesses to invest in Bac Ninh in fields such as: green investment projects, high-tech industry, supporting industries, electronics industry and information technology, high-end commercial and service complexes (commercial centers, entertainment centers, training services, international medical services, etc., as well as promote cultural activities, tourism, people-to-people relations, support the province in implementing information exchange activities and advertise unique cultural values, heritage sites, and famous tourist destinations to the people of Qatar.

* From May 29-30, PPC’s Chairwoman Nguyen Huong Giang and the Bac Ninh provincial delegation had a working program in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Mr. Nguyen Thanh Diep, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the UAE attended the meeting.
On the morning of May 29, the Bac Ninh provincial delegation visited and worked with Abu Dhabi Ports Group (AD Ports Group).
The Chairwoman said that Bac Ninh is gradually becoming a place to gather goods, focusing on logistics services to serve goods production activities in the province's industrial zones and clusters, making Bac Ninh into an industrial and smart urban center and a place to gather goods and major logistics services of the country.
Currently, Bac Ninh has more than 50 businesses participating in the field of logistics and 46 domestic and foreign projects with an investment capital of USD 680 million, that have been operating warehousing and logistics in Industrial Zones in the province.
Giang recognized that Abu Dhabi Ports Group is a leading UAE integrated enterprise in digital, economic cities and free zones, logistics, maritime, transportation and ports connecting global maritime routes.
She hoped that the Group would research the possibility of cooperation in fields such as: Research on the possibility of investment cooperation in developing logistics zones and systems of Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Bac Ninh; Research on free trade zone models and infrastructure development of industrial zones in Bac Ninh province.

The Chairwoman respectfully thanked the Ambassador and Embassy officials for taking the time to receive and support the delegation's work program. Based on understanding of the capacity and strengths of some corporations and businesses in the UAE, the Chairwoman requested that the Ambassador pay attention to and support the promotion of cooperation between Bac Ninh and the UAE.
On this occasion, Chairwoman Nguyen Huong Giang asked the Ambassador to support the business community of Bac Ninh province to gain deeper access to the Halal market, standardize the province's products to meet Halal standards, and export them to the UAE market; support Bac Ninh province to promote and encourage UAE businesses to research and invest in Bac Ninh province; promote and export Halal products produced in Bac Ninh province to the UAE market...

On May 30, the Bac Ninh provincial delegation had a working session with DP World UAE Company. At the meeting with Mr. Simon Sonoo, Senior Vice President in charge of economic zones of DP World UAE Company - a multinational logistics company headquartered in Dubai that specializes in cargo logistics services, port operations, maritime services and free trade zones.
Visiting and working at the Company, the Chairwoman hoped that the Company would research the possibility of cooperation with Bac Ninh province in a number of fields such as: Research on the possibility of investment cooperation in developing logistics zones, system of Inland Container Depot in Bac Ninh; Research on free trade zone models and infrastructure development of industrial zones in Bac Ninh province.
At the meeting, Mr. Simon Sonoo highly appreciated the investment environment in Bac Ninh as well as expressed his interest and desire to invest in Vietnam.
The Chairwoman assigned the province’s departments and sectors to provide all necessary information and respectfully invite the Group's leaders to come to Bac Ninh to survey and select a suitable location so as to meet the criteria to build a large-scale, modern, international standard logistics ecosystem.
