Diplomatic activities contribute to promoting new productive forces in new context

(BNP) - On January 6, the Government Office held an online conference to review the work of the Foreign Affairs in 2024 and deploy tasks for 2025. Prime Minister (PM) Pham Minh Chinh attended the conference and gave a directing speech. Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son chaired the conference.

At Bac Ninh’s venue, Mr. Le Xuan Loi, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee presided at the conference.

In 2024, in the face of the complex and fluctuating world situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has proactively, synchronously, creatively and effectively deployed foreign affairs and diplomacy, thus continuing to make important contributions to firmly consolidating a peaceful and stable environment and an open foreign policy situation, favorable for socio-economic development and protection of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, while continuing to enhance the country’s international position and prestige.

In particular, economic diplomacy and foreign economic relations under the close and drastic direction of the PM have made strong changes in many areas such as trade, investment, digital transformation, green transformation, semiconductor chips, artificial intelligence, etc., thereby, making important contributions to maintaining Vietnam in the group of high-growth countries, a bright spot in trade and attracting foreign investment in the context of many fluctuations in the world.

In Bac Ninh, foreign affairs and cooperation activities with foreign localities and units continued to be promoted. Of which, 4 new cooperation agreements were signed with localities of Germany, Kazakhstan, China, and South Korea. The delegations were sent to exchange, promote cooperation and investment, trade, culture with foreign partners, especially organizing investment promotion conferences in the destination countries, attracting the participation of a large number of enterprises, helping to strengthen cooperative relations with partners of other countries, especially with countries such as the United States, China, the United Arab Emirates, Japan...

In 2024, Bac Ninh province attracted impressive investment results with a total investment of USD 5.04 billion, accounting for 16% of the total FDI attraction value nationwide, ranking first in the country. Industrial production scale ranked first in the country. Total import-export value reached USD 71.9 billion, ranking second in the country; continuing to maintain the top 10 localities with the highest budget revenue nationwide.

Speaking at the conference, PM Chinh analyzed the context and significance of 2025 and emphasized 5 main groups of tasks and solutions that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs needs to focus on implementing.

After the conference, speaking at the Bac Ninh’s venue, Vice Chairman Le Xuan Loi requested the provincial departments and branches to receive and understand the instructions of the PM and leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to concretize them in the 2025 working program.

In the coming time, in order to effectively carry out diplomatic work for the province’s socio-economic development, Loi requested the departments, branches, localities, especially the Foreign Affairs Department (Office of the Provincial People’s Committee) to continue to advise on the effective implementation of local foreign affairs, promote the local image, attract foreign investment, take advantage of the province’s potential as well as partners for socio-economic development. They also need prepare conditions, well serve the foreign affairs programs of the provincial leaders, to promote foreign investment promotion; promote the recognition by 2025 of “Dong Ho folk painting craft” by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection, he stressed.
