(BNP) - On November 27, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) Dao Quang Khai and leaders of relevant departments and sectors inspected the waste incineration power plant for energy generation (plant) in An Thinh commune, Luong Tai district. This is the second plant to be put into operation in the province.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Dao Quang Khai (3rd from left) visits the operation center of the plant.
Covering on an area of 8.7 hectares, the waste incineration power plant for energy generation in Luong Tai district invested by Bac Ninh Eu - Conch Venture New Energy Company Limited, has a budget of more than VND 847 billion with the waste treatment capacity of 300 tons per day and night, and generating capacity of 6 MWh. Starting construction in July 2020, the plant has completed all items and started receiving waste in Luong Tai and Yen Phong districts with a volume of 200 tons per day for trial operation in November. On November 21, 2023, the system was successfully connected to the grid and began producing electricity.
The company is actively carrying out procedures to switch to commercial operation according to the requirements of the power purchase contract. It is expected to complete related procedures and accept environmental monitoring during the trial operation process in February 2024.
In the coming time, the company hoped that the Provincial People's Committee would continue to direct departments, branches, and localities to provide enough waste to meet the production needs of the plant and put into official operation as soon as possible.
Directly inspecting the trial operation of the plant, Khai acknowledged and highly appreciated the company's efforts in initially putting the plant into operation and connecting to the power infrastructure. At the same time, he emphasized that this is one of the province's key environmental projects, contributing to thoroughly solving the waste problem in the province.
In the coming time, Khai requested that the company focuses on the plant's trial operation to ensure processing capacity and adjust technical parameters to meet environmental requirements. If the plant does not satisfy the requirements, the province will discontinue supplying garbage to it.
The company needs to pay attention to fire prevention and fighting while also assuring worker safety; manage the workforce and create conditions for them to enjoy remuneration according to regulations; review the planning and plant green trees to create an environmental landscape and so on, Khai added.
The Vice Chairman assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to coordinate with the plant and Luong Tai, Gia Binh, and Yen Phong districts to review gathering yards and transshipment point to transport waste to the plant.
