Provincial leaders receive and work with General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex

Chairwoman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Huong Giang and leaders of provincial departments and sectors also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr. Choi Joo Ho said, thanks to the companionship and comprehensive facilitation of BAC Ninh provincial leaders as well as functional agencies, the production activities of Samsung factories in the province has made great efforts to successfully fulfill the set plan and reached outstanding achievements in the context of global economic difficulties. In 2023, Samsung in Bac Ninh sets a growth target of 5%. Samsung Group wanted the Vietnamese Government to consider and have a solution related to the global minimum tax issue.

Mr. Choi Joo Ho also confirmed that the recent information about Samsung moving smartphone production line from Vietnam to India is not true. Products made in India are mainly for the domestic market and a small part is exported to African countries, while products made in Vietnam are exported to 128 countries around the world. Therefore, the output of Samsung Factory in Vietnam is not affected by production in India.

For his part, Secretary Nguyen Anh Tuan pledged that Bac Ninh province has been actively supporting and accompanying to propose and recommend to the National Assembly and the Government of Vietnam to consider building a mechanism to adapt to the global minimum tax, soon remove Samsung's difficulties in Bac Ninh province in particular and Vietnam in general., thereby, continuing to maintaining and promoting the role of "global production base" of Samsung Group in Vietnam, making great contributions to the socio-economic development of Bac Ninh province as well as of the whole country.
