(BNP) - In May 2026, the province’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.48% compared to the previous month, by 3.17% compared to December 2025, and by 5.03% compared to the same period last year. On average, the CPI for the first five months of 2026 increased by 3.67% compared to the same period in 2025.

Compared to the previous month, several commodity groups showed significant increases, including: housing, electricity, water, fuel, and construction materials (up 0.78%); transportation (up 0.76%); household equipment and appliances (up 0.72%); clothing, hats, and footwear (up 0.66%); and information and communication (up 0.52%).
Compared to the same period in 2025, all 11 groups of consumer goods and services saw price increases. Of these, transportation increased most significantly at 10.97%; education increased by 8.7%; housing, electricity, water, fuel, and construction materials increased by 7.57%; and information and communication increased by 3.04%.
In the first five months of 2026, the groups with the greatest impact on the CPI increase were transportation, food and food services, housing, electricity, water, fuel, and construction materials. Specifically, transportation increased by 4.43%, and food and food services increased by 3.32%, contributing significantly to the overall CPI increase.
