Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai and Bac Ninh provincial delegation visit and work with Samsung Group in South Korea

(BNP) - Continuing their working visit to South Korea, on the afternoon of April 24th, at the headquarters of Samsung Electronics (Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province), the Bac Ninh provincial delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Hong Thai, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, visited and worked with Samsung Group.

Joining the delegation were Mr. Mai Son, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; other members of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Committee Office; and relevant departments and units.

Receiving and working with the Bac Ninh delegation were Mr. Park Soon Cheol, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Samsung Electronics, along with leaders of various departments and member units of the Group.

During the meeting, representatives from Samsung Group presented an overview of their operations, development strategy, and future investment and production plans, affirming that Vietnam continues to be one of the Group's important production hubs in its global value chain.

Currently, Samsung has established a large-scale electronics manufacturing complex in Bac Ninh with several key projects. Among them, Samsung Electronics Vietnam has a total investment capital of approximately USD 2.5 billion and is engaged in the production, assembly, research, and development of high-tech electronic products.

Samsung Display Vietnam has a total investment of approximately USD 8.3 billion, a large-scale display manufacturing project serving the global market. Samsung SDI Vietnam has a total investment of approximately USD 160 million, specializing in the production of batteries and electronic components.

Samsung's projects not only create tens of thousands of jobs but also contribute to the formation of an electronics industry ecosystem, promoting the development of supporting industries and enhancing the capacity of Vietnamese businesses to participate in the global value chain.

Mr. Park Soon Cheol emphasized that Samsung always considers Vietnam, especially Bac Ninh province, as a strategic investment location and will continue to expand production, improve technological capabilities, and strengthen cooperation with local partners in the future.

For his part, Bac Ninh Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai expressed his pleasure at visiting and working with Samsung Group. At the same time, he affirmed that this is an important activity to further consolidate and develop the long-term cooperative relationship between Bac Ninh province and the Group.

Mr. Thai stated that, after the merger, Bac Ninh province has a population of more than 3.6 million people and serves as a dynamic growth pole of the Northern Key Economic Region. The province enjoys a strategic geographical location along major economic corridors, with convenient connectivity to Hanoi, Noi Bai International Airport, and Hai Phong Port.

In particular, the province is currently investing in the construction of Gia Binh International Airport according to international standards, contributing to the completion of a modern transportation infrastructure system, enhancing connectivity and attracting investment.

The province's economic growth rate is consistently among the leading in the country, reaching 10.27% in 2025 and 9.82% in the first quarter of 2026. Total import and export value is projected to reach USD 48.1 billion. Foreign investment attracted reached approximately USD 49.4 billion, ranking second nationwide in terms of capital scale.

South Korea is currently the leading investment partner in Bac Ninh province with 1,148 projects and a total registered capital of USD 18.8 billion. Korean businesses, including Samsung Group, have made and continue to make significant contributions to the province's socio-economic development.

The Secretary affirmed that Bac Ninh is always committed to accompanying businesses and creating a favorable investment environment, viewing the difficulties of enterprises as the difficulties of the province and the success of businesses as the success of the locality. He also expressed his hope that Samsung Group would continue to expand its investment scale, strengthen technology transfer, and support Vietnamese enterprises in participating more deeply in the global supply chain.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged and discussed areas of future cooperation, agreeing to further strengthen connections, expand investment, and develop high-tech industries.

At the end of the program, Samsung Group and the Bac Ninh delegation exchanged gifts, took commemorative photos, and toured the Group's manufacturing plant.
