Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development inspects work of prevention and control of avian influenza outbreaks in Bac Ninh

(BNP) – In the morning of February 16, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development inspected the work of prevention and control of avian influenza outbreak in Bac Ninh province.

According to a report of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in Bac Ninh province, 2 avian influenza outbreaks were detected in Huu Chap area, Hoa Long ward (Bac Ninh city) and Viet Hung village, Viet Thong commune (Que Vo district). As soon as the outbreak occur, the province has urged the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with the local authorities localize the epidemic and destroy all infected poultry in accordance with technical procedures as well as clean and disinfect the breeding areas in affected households and villages by the outbreak, village roads, and alleys with lime powder and chemicals. The province’s department is stepping up efforts to contain the H5N6 virus in the localities by sterilizing poultry farms, vaccinating poultry and setting up quarantine checkpoints.

Speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development requested the province to continue closely monitoring the epidemic’s situation on livestock herds to timely detect and handle the avian influenza outbreak. At the same time, he asked the province to have solutions to transform small-scale livestock farming into other economic forms to ensure environmental sanitation, without affecting safe production places; continue implementing environmental sanitation, spray chemicals, and sprinkle lime disinfectants, especially in the epidemic region…

Bac Ninh province should pay attention to the work of stabilizing prices and re-raising the pigs towards the stable and sustainable development of the breeding sector; focus on completing the spring crop sowing in the seasonal framework, promoting the application of technical advances in production…, he added.
