Bac Ninh determined to become centrally-run city

Overview of the meeting.

Attending the meeting were Mr. Dao Quang Khai, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the PPC; representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs and leaders of departments, branches and localities.

According to the report of the Department of Home Affairs, after review, Bac Ninh province has achieved 3/5 standards prescribed for a centrally-run city in terms of: population size, natural area, and administrative units.

For the Project to recognize Bac Ninh urban area as meeting type 1 criteria, through the preliminary assessment of the Department of Construction based on Resolution No. 26/2022/UBTVQH15, Bac Ninh achieved 77.36 points; of which 4/5 criteria were met, but the criteria of location, function, role, structure and level of socio-economic development were inadequate.

At the meeting, delegates discussed and clarified the insufficient criteria, difficulties, and problems, and proposed solutions to ensure that the Project to upgrade Bac Ninh into a centrally-run city when reported to the Politburo could achieve the highest quality and effectiveness.

Concluding the meeting, PPC’s Chairman Vuong Quoc Tuan affirmed that the goal of turning Bac Ninh into a centrally-run city is a political determination. It demonstrates the aspirations of the Party Committee, authority and people of Bac Ninh province in recent years. Up to now, Bac Ninh has basically met the criteria to become a centrally-run city and a class 1 urban area.

Tuan stressed that the time for Bac Ninh to become a centrally-run city is by the end of 2026 following the conclusion of General Secretary To Lam. Tuan assigned the departments, branches and localities to determine that the workload is very large, the spirit of working is timeless, the roadmap for implementing the steps must be in the minimum time but still creates effective products, thus solving the difficulties.

In terms of the implementation roadmap, the PPC’s Chairman requested that the development and protection of the Project to upgrade Bac Ninh into a centrally-run city must be carried out in parallel with the Project to recognize Bac Ninh urban area as meeting type 1 criteria to unify viewpoints, content, and statistics.
