Bac Ninh’s growth decreases, but economic scale still ranks 4th in Red River Delta and 9th in country
(BNP) - In 2023, the world economy continued to face many difficulties and challenges, so it severely affected the country’s economy and society in general and Bac Ninh in particular. The province’s GRDP (compared to 2010 prices) decreased by 9.28%. However, with the efforts of the entire political system and people from all social strata as well as the business community, the socio-economic picture of the whole year has improved, and some socio-economic indicators are still among the top of the country.

The GRDP scale (at current prices) in 2023 was estimated at VND 220,223 billion, ranked 4th in the Red River Delta and 9th in the country.
GRDP per capita was estimated at VND 145.1 million per person, ranked 4th in the Red River Delta and 7th in the country.
Total export and import turnover was estimated at USD 73.6 billion; the trade balance of goods with a surplus of USD 7 billion.
Among which, export turnover reached USD 40.3 billion, ranked 1st in the Red River Delta and 2nd in the country; import turnover reached USD 33.3 billion, ranked 2nd in the Red River Delta and 3rd in the country.

In 2023, the number of newly-established enterprises and those returning to operation increased. Newly-established enterprises increased by 28.4% over the same period, and the average total registered capital per enterprise also increased by 18.3%.

The social indicators maintained 1st place in the country such as: the percentage of schools meeting national standards; the rate of classroom solidification; the percentage of medical stations meeting national standards; the percentage of communes achieving new rural areas. The rate of urbanization and trained labor ranked 2nd in the Red River Delta and 7th in the country.
The bright spots of the economy in 2023 and new driving forces for the current growth will create motivation for 2024 and the following years to have opportunities to overcome difficulties and develop.
