(BNP) - On the afternoon of June 11th, a delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, led by Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long, worked with Bac Ninh province on the implementation of power generation and grid projects under the revised Power Plan VIII. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh and leaders of relevant departments, agencies, and units attended the meeting.

According to the Provincial People's Committee, electricity demand is increasing rapidly along with industrial development. In 2025, commercial electricity consumption is expected to reach over 16.6 billion kWh, an increase of 3.78%; in the first five months of 2026, it is expected to reach nearly 7 billion kWh, an increase of 12.72% compared to the same period. Peak load capacity is expected to reach over 3,229 MW, an increase of 32%. The projected capacity is approximately 3,295 MW in 2026 and 3,558 MW in 2027.
Under the revised Power Development Plan VIII, Bac Ninh province is planned for 17 power generation projects with a total capacity of approximately 1,932 MW. Currently, units are implementing 43 power generation and grid projects with a total investment of approximately VND 35,333 billion.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long highly appreciated the province's proactive approach in developing power generation and grids; he requested the locality to carefully study the needs and feasibility of the projects, ensuring they are consistent with the plan. He also requested the acceleration of progress on key transmission projects, striving for completion no later than the end of the first quarter of 2027.
The Deputy Minister also stated that the Ministry of Industry and Trade is finalizing mechanisms for power development, including simplifying investment procedures for rooftop solar power, expanding the scope of participation, and promoting direct power purchase agreements. Simultaneously, a plan for allocating energy storage system (BESS) capacity to localities will be developed.
On behalf of the province, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to consider adjusting the progress of several power generation projects, approving the connection plan for the Yen Dung Wind Power Plant Project, and supporting the acceleration of investment in key power grid projects to ensure stable electricity supply for the socio-economic development of the locality.
Before the meeting, the delegation conducted a field survey of the Bac Ninh 500 kV Substation project and the connecting transmission line.
