Bac Ninh wins 8 medals at the National Freestyle and Classical Wrestling Championship

(BNP) - From October 4 to 9, the 2020 National Freestyle and Classical Wrestling Championship took place in Nam Dinh.

The tournament attracted more than 250 wrestlers from 19 provinces, cities and sectors nationwide. The wrestlers competed in 3 categories including men's classical wrestling (11 weight classes, from 48kg - 130kg); men’s freestyle wrestling (11 weight classes, from 50kg - 125kg) and women's freestyle wrestling (11 weight classes, from 44kg - 76kg). At the end of the tournament, the Organizing Committee awarded the first prize to Hanoi city.

Bac Ninh wrestling team attended the tournament with 16 athletes and won 8 medals, including 1 Silver medal, 7 Bronze medals. Wrestler Nguyen Thi Nga won silver medal (weight class 60kg) in women's freestyle wrestling.

The National Freestyle and Classical Wrestling Championship is held annually to promote the movement of practicing wrestling throughout the country as well as an opportunity to review the training of localities and sectors to select excellent wrestlers to participate in the National team.
