Meeting to celebrate 55th anniversary of establishment of Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Theater held

Leaders of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism present flowers to celebrate Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Theatre.

Delegates at the meeting were leaders of the Department of Culture and Society from the Provincial People’s Council, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the provincial departments, branches and sectors, and a large number of Quan Ho artisans and artists.

At the meeting, the delegates reviewed the 55-year journey of building and growing the Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Theatre. More than half a century ago, during the fierce war of destruction by the American imperialists, the Quan Ho Singing Team (the predecessor of the Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Theatre) was established.

On September 30, 2009, Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs were officially recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. On September 30, 2011, the Provincial People’s Committee decided to establish Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Theatre to perform arts for the enjoyment needs of the people and international friends as well as collect, research, experiment, train, teach, preserve and promote the value of Quan Ho Folk Songs.

Many high-quality art programs and performances have successfully served many major political and cultural events of the province, the country and internationally, such as the program: “Coming back to Quan Ho land”, Bac Ninh Festival; Quan Ho folk songs singing on boats; performing for many high-ranking delegations of central and international leaders visiting and working in Bac Ninh province.

In addition, Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Theatre has well implemented the cultural diplomacy strategy of the Party and State by organizing and sending many troupes to perform and promote Quan Ho folk songs in localities and some European and Asian countries, spreading Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs widely in the community.

In order for Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs to always exist and spread more, in the coming time, Bac Ninh Quan Ho Folk Theater will continue to improve the quality of artistic activities through experience, performances, and introduction of Quan Ho culture and Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs to the public. It also actively cooperates and participates in the teaching of Quan Ho folk songs in the community, schools, domestically and internationally. It further performs well the task of collecting, researching, and preserving the value of Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs associated with creative activities, experiments, and artistic performances, creating a new vitality for Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs.

On this occasion, many groups and individuals with outstanding achievements in the work of preserving and promoting the value of the UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage of humanity, Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk songs, period 2009-2024, received awards from the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.
