Approving adjustment of Gia Binh International Airport Planning for 2021-2030 period, with vision to 2050

(BNP) - The Ministry of Construction has just issued Decision 1737/QD-BXD on approving the adjustment of the Gia Binh International Airport Planning for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

Gia Binh International Airport planning with capacity of 50 million passengers/year.

According to the Decision, Gia Binh Airport will be developed in 2 main phases. In the 2021-2030 period, Gia Binh Airport will be established according to 4F airport standards - according to the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Capacity reaches about 30.0 million passengers/year and 1.6 million tons of cargo/year.

Types of aircraft in operation include: B747, B777, B787, A380, A350, A321 and other special purpose aircraft. Approach and landing methods: according to CATIII standards for runway 07R/25L, CATII standards for runway 06L/24R.

Phase 2, vision to 2050, the airport is planned to reach a capacity of about 50.0 million passengers/year and 2.5 million tons of cargo/year. Types of aircraft in operation: B747, B777, B787, A380, A350, A321 and other special and specialized aircraft. Approach and landing methods: according to CATIII standards for 04 runways 07L/25R, 07R/25L, 06L/24R and 06R/24L.

For aviation service projects. The passenger terminal in the 2021 - 2030 period is planned in the Eastern area as a VIP terminal with a capacity of about 30.0 million passengers/year. Vision to 2050, the passenger terminal will be expanded to the Southwest to meet a capacity of about 50.0 million passengers/year.

The cargo terminal for the 2021-2030 period is planned in the eastern area of ​​the passenger terminal, meeting the capacity of about 1.6 million tons of cargo/year. Vision to 2050, it is expanding to the east to meet the capacity of about 2.5 million tons/year; reserve space for development to the south when needed. Aircraft repair and maintenance service facilities are planned in the southwest area of ​​the cargo terminal.

According to the planning, the land use demand for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, of Gia Binh International Airport is about 1,960 hectares, of which land planned for civil aviation works is about 943.94 hectares; land planned for shared airport works is about 940.99 hectares; security land managed by the Ministry of Public Security is about 75.07 hectares.

The general technical infrastructure system planning is oriented to connect the airport with the expressway from Hanoi Capital to the Port and Hai Phong City; arrange an urban railway station at the Port's passenger terminal area to serve the connection with the national railway system and the urban railway line connecting to Hanoi Capital.
