(BNP) - On the afternoon of April 22, a delegation from Bac Ninh led by Mai Son, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, paid a courtesy visit to leaders of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government at its headquarters in South Korea.

Gyeongsangbuk-do is a province in southeastern South Korea with a population of approximately 2.6 million people. Currently, around 8,000 Vietnamese citizens are living in the province, many of whom are married to local residents. A significant number of them come from Bac Ninh, serving as an important bridge for people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two localities.
Mr. Hwang Myoungsuk, Acting Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, along with leaders of provincial departments and agencies, receive and work with the delegation.
In addition, Gyeongsangbuk-do province has strengths in industrial development and attracting investment, while also possessing rich potential in culture, tourism, and agriculture.

During the meeting, the leaders of Gyeongsangbuk-do province expressed their pleasure in welcoming the delegation from Bac Ninh province to visit and work with them. They also highly appreciated the cooperative relationship between the two localities in the past, especially after the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation.

Speaking at the meeting, Mai Son emphasized that the working visit took place as Bac Ninh has been newly established through the merger of Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, creating greater scale and stronger development potential.

According to Mai Son, Bac Ninh is currently preparing a dossier proposing that Ly Thai To be recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural figure. He expressed his hope that Gyeongsangbuk-do would cooperate in providing information and documents related to descendants of the Ly Dynasty in Korea, helping the province complete the dossier at an early date.

South Korea is currently Bac Ninh's top investment partner in terms of economic relations. The province ranked first among nations and territories investing in the province in terms of overall investment capital as of February 2026, with 1,141 investment projects from South Korean companies totaling approximately USD 16.2 billion. Numerous major companies, including Samsung, Hanwha, and Orion, are involved in these projects, which are primarily focused on the processing and manufacturing sectors, electronic components, supporting industries, and semiconductors.
Standing Vice Chairman Mai Son expressed his hope that Gyeongsangbuk-do would continue to support business networking, promote investment, and expand trade cooperation, while further strengthening cultural and educational exchanges, thereby making cooperation between the two localities deeper, more substantive, and more effective.
