Nghia Chi communal house

(BNP) - According to local elders and historical documents, the Nghia Chi communal house (Minh Dao commune, Tien Du district) was built in the 18th century and restored in the 19th century.

The old Nghia Chi communal house is no longer standing due to historical upheavals. In 1990-1991, the local people restored the communal house on the old foundation. The communal house was renovated in 2007-2008 and became as spacious as it is today.

The communal house is located in the south of the village, facing west, in front of the inter-district and inter-commune road. The communal house is located on the southern border of the Duong River dike, the northern border of the pagoda pond, the western border of the inter-district road, and the eastern border of Tien My hamlet. The communal house grounds are surrounded by a protective wall system.



Decoration is four sacred creatures, clouds, stylized flowers and leaves.

Currently, Nghia Chi communal house has a Chinese “Dinh” letter architecture including the Front Ceremonial Hall and the Emperor’s Harem.

Nghia Chi communal house festival is held on the 5th and 6th of the second lunar month. The main festival is on the 6th of the second lunar month.


 

Nghia Chi Communal House was ranked as a historical and cultural relic by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 2167/QD-CT dated December 20, 2004.
