Bac Ninh strives for total fisheries production to reach more than 41,000 tons
(BNP) - In 2023, total fisheries production in the province reached 40,500 tons, an increase of 0.8% over the same period in 2022.

Among which, the output of fish raised in earthen ponds and cages accounted for more than 98% of total fisheries production, the rest was the output exploited in the wild. The movement of raising fish in cages on the river continued to grow with 2,629 cages, an increase of 144 cages over the same period. 100% of cages raising fish with productive and high-quality breeds such as tilapia, crispy carp, red tilapia, etc. The province has produced 230.9 million fingerlings of all kinds and released 44,500 fingerlings to regenerate aquatic resources.
Seafood production following the direction of concentration and high-tech application is focused. The province currently has 72 concentrated aquaculture areas with an area of 1,036.7 hectares (each area covers 10 hectares or more), accounting for 22% of the water surface area for aquaculture. The province has 44 aquaculture establishments and households applying VietGAP standard with an area of 8.5 hectares.
In the coming time, the Agriculture sector will cooperate with localities to propagate and disseminate the province’s support policies in concentrated aquaculture, high-tech application, link chain building; as well as instruct establishments and households in measures to care and protect aquatic products. The province strives for total fisheries production in 2024 to reach more than 41,000 tons and production of aquatic breeds of all kinds to reach 250 million breeds.
