Population and labor are important factors in the process of socio-economic development. After more than 20 years of re-establishing the province and conducting industrialization, Bac Ninh's population has had remarkable changes. In the period 1997 - 2018, the population density of the province was constantly increasing. In 1997, the population density of the whole province was 1,133.4 people per km2, but by 2018 it had increased to 1,516 people per km2, an increase of 33% compared to 1997. Population density is unevenly distributed, Bac Ninh city and Tu Son city has a relatively high population density, with an average of 2,699 people per km2. The lowest is Gia Binh district with 887 people per km2.

The working force of 15 years old and above is 670,520 people. In 2019, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs set a target of creating jobs for about 28,000 workers, reducing the unemployment rate in urban areas below 2.5%.
