Promoting implementation of social housing projects

To date, the whole country has planned 1.316 land plots, with a scale of 8.611 hectares, for social housing. From 2021 to 2023, there will be 499 social housing projects implemented nationwide with a scale of more than 411 thousand units.

Many localities have been active in attracting investment and promoting the start of social housing construction such as: Bac Ninh province 15 projects, 6.000 units; Bac Giang 05 projects, 12.475 units; Hai Phong 07 projects, 11.678 units; Binh Duong 07 projects, 6.557 units; Dong Nai 08 projects, 9.074 units; Binh Duong 07 projects, 6.557 units; Thanh Hoa 09 projects, 4.948 apartments...

To date, banks have committed to granting credit to 15 projects with an amount of about 7.000 billion VND, including 08 social housing projects. Associations in 07 localities were disbursed with a capital of about 640 billion VND.

At the Conference, delegates focused on discussing and evaluating results, limitations, objective and subjective causes; Propose solutions to remove difficulties and promote social housing development. In particular, review guidelines, policies and institutions; making; planning, land fund and finance for social housing development.

Speaking at the conclusion of the Conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the enthusiastic, responsible, and realistic opinions of ministries, branches, localities, and businesses.

In the coming time, the Prime Minister pointed out, to develop social housing, including quickly and effectively deploying the Project "Investment and construction of at least 01 million social housing units" for low-income subjects and industrial park workers in the period 2021-2030", all relevant entities, each person, each organization, based on their functions, tasks and powers, must promote with all one's ability, enthusiasm, highest sense of responsibility, proactive, creative, timely, plus social responsibility and ethics to carry out the work well, join hands, contribute to creating a new movement and trend of developing true social housing.

For localities, the Prime Minister requested to issue a resolution on the implementation of social housing; urgently establish, amend, and supplement local housing development programs and plans, clarifying the goals of social housing for low-income people and industrial park workers; review and supplement urban planning and industrial park planning, ensuring adequate land funding for social housing development.

For projects that have selected investors, investors are requested to urgently complete legal procedures to start construction according to planning projects and approve approved investment policies…
