Bac Ninh organizes 110th birthday of Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu

(BNP) - In the morning of July 9, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Fatherland Front Committee solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 110th birthday of Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu (July 9, 1912 - 2022) at Kinh Bac Cultural Center (Bac Ninh city).

Attending the celebration were State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc; Former Politburo member, Former General Secretary of the Party Central Committee Nong Duc Manh; Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat Vo Van Thuong; Director of Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang; Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh; leaders of the central ministries, departments, branches and mass organizations, Military Zone 1 and provinces and cities.

Provincial Party Committee Secretary Dao Hong Lan delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Bac Ninh province’s participants at the ceremony were Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies Dao Hong Lan; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Nguyen Quoc Chung; Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huong Giang; former leaders of the province through the periods; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of the Provincial Permanent People's Council, People's Committee, Fatherland Front Committee and Delegation of National Assembly Deputies; leaders of provincial departments, branches, sectors and mass organizations, districts and cities; veteran revolutionary cadres, Heroic Mother of Vietnam, Hero of the Armed Forces.

Secretary Lan delivered a speech to review the status and glorious revolutionary career of Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu. Nguyen Van Cu was born on July 9, 1912 into a patriotic Confucian family in Phu Khe village, Tu Son district, Bac Ninh province. At the Party Central Committee meeting in March 1938, he was elected Party General Secretary when he was under 26 years of age. On January 18, 1940, he was arrested by French secret agents in Saigon. After the Nam Ky Uprising broke out on November 23, 1940, he was accused by the French of being responsible for the spirit of the uprising. On August 28, 1941, he heroically died of the enemy's gunshots at a shooting range in Gia Dinh.

Although the life of Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu was short, it was beautiful. His great merits and glorious sacrifices have contributed to the glory of the nation and the Party. Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu was a staunch communist and an outstanding theoretician of the Vietnamese Party and revolution

Celebrating the 110th birthday of Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu is an opportunity for the entire Party, people and army to review and better understand his life and great contributions to the Party's revolutionary cause of the nation, thus, drawing useful lessons for the renovation, construction and defense of the country today.

In pride and deep gratitude to celebrate the 110th birthday of General Secretary Nguyen Van Cu, Chairwoman Giang launched the learning emulation movement, following the example of Comrade Nguyen Van Cu, determined to successfully complete political tasks in the period 2022 - 2025.

The art performance with the theme "Glorious Nguyen Van Cu" was elaborately choreographed, showing the pride of Bac Ninh's homeland with the participation of many artists from the Vietnam Ballet Theatre, Vietnam National Academy of Music.
