Bac Ninh deploys Smart Box system in logistics sector

(BNP) - On the afternoon of September 15, the Department of Industry and Trade of Bac Ninh province and the Viettel Post Joint Stock Company (Viettel Post) jointly organized the program to deploy and put into use the smart goods delivery system (Smart Box) at the Provincial Public Administration Service Center.

Attending the program were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies Pham Van Thinh; representatives from the Provincial People's Committee Office, relevant departments, branches and units.

Viettel Post studied and created Smart Box, a technology product that is already in use in numerous localities and administrative units throughout the country.  This is a smart delivery cabinet system that runs on the IoT platform and allows consumers to send or receive goods without having to meet delivery personnel directly.

The highlight of Smart Box is the 24/7 service, providing convenience, safety and security for both senders and recipients. Users can make transactions via OTP code, QR code or identification account. In addition, the system also allows connection and integration of other services of state agencies, forming a chain of synchronous, modern and effective digital solutions.

To date, Viettel Post has installed 11 Smart Box machines at the headquarters of agencies, units, localities, industrial parks and clusters in Bac Ninh province. It is expected that 69 machines will be installed in 2025 and 3,000 machines will be installed by 2030.

At the program, Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh emphasized that the application of new technology in the field of logistics. Putting Smart Box into operation is a concrete step toward implementing the Provincial Party Committee Resolution on digital transformation, digital economic development, digital society, and digital governance.  This technology not only enhances job efficiency, but it also produces a smart, adaptable, and cost-effective working environment that is in step with current trends, he added.

To ensure the Smart Box system's effectiveness, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh requested that the Department of Industry and Trade work closely with Viettel Post and other related agencies and units to monitor the trial operation process and organize an assessment of actual effectiveness; continue the plan to expand the installation of the Smart Box system in the province; combine Smart Box with other delivery units, e-commerce platforms, and production business entities to maximize its effectiveness; propaganda and guidance work so that cadres, civil servants, public employees as well as people understand, access and effectively use the system.
