(BNP) - On the afternoon of June 25th, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thinh worked with relevant departments, agencies, and express delivery businesses to discuss and study the establishment of an e-commerce hub in Bac Ninh. The formation of a large-scale e-commerce hub is expected to create momentum for the development of modern logistics, cross-border e-commerce, and the digital economy, while effectively exploiting the province's advantages in transportation, industry, and trade connectivity.

Attending the meeting were representatives from the Departments of Industry and Trade, Finance, Construction, Science and Technology; the Provincial Industrial Parks Management Board; the Customs Sub-department of Region V; the Bac Giang International Logistics Center (BGL); and representatives from major express delivery businesses such as J&T Express, Shopee Express (SPX), BEST Express, SF Express, GHN, GHTK, and Ninja Van.

Overview of the working session.

During the working session, representatives of the Bac Giang International Logistics Center (BGL) presented an overview of the center’s infrastructure, logistics service system, and experience in cross-border e-commerce operations. Located on a 67-hectare site in Tien Phong Ward, BGL is planned as a national-level Class II logistics center. The facility will integrate a wide range of functions, including bonded warehouses, extended air cargo terminals, an inland container depot (ICD) with customs clearance services, an integrated e-commerce center, and a goods sorting hub supporting logistics and import-export activities.

The center has the advantage of multimodal connectivity with Huu Nghi International Border Gate, Hai Phong Port, Noi Bai International Airport, Gia Binh Airport, and Kep Station – an international railway transport hub. Notably, the integrated e-commerce hub model introduced at the working session allows for the simultaneous execution of warehousing, sorting, customs clearance, packaging, order management, and goods delivery activities in one location. BGL currently has experience operating cross-border e-commerce for major e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop.

They also proposed solutions related to technical and digital infrastructure, policy mechanisms, customs procedures, and connectivity with regional manufacturing and logistics networks. Many participants agreed that developing a large-scale e-commerce hub would help shorten delivery times, reduce logistics costs, improve customs clearance efficiency, facilitate cross-border e-commerce, and attract more logistics and e-commerce enterprises to invest in the province.

Concluding the meeting, Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh emphasized that Bac Ninh province possesses many favorable conditions to develop into a logistics and e-commerce center in the Northern region. With a synchronized transportation infrastructure, a developed industrial park network, an international railway line, existing logistics centers, and the planned operation of Gia Binh International Airport in the near future, the province has ample room to form a large-scale goods transshipment center serving both domestic and international markets.

Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh delivers the concluding remarks at the meeting.

The Vice Chairman stated that Bac Ninh province is aiming to build itself into a modern goods transshipment, logistics, and e-commerce center, where goods are collected, sorted, packaged, cleared through customs, and distributed locally. This will contribute to optimizing transportation costs, enhancing the competitiveness of businesses, and promoting the development of the digital economy.

Vice Chairman Pham Van Thinh expressed his hope that express delivery, e-commerce, and logistics enterprises would soon explore investment and cooperation opportunities in Bac Ninh. He assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to serve as the focal agency for maintaining dialogue with businesses, conducting further research, and finalizing a proposal for the development of an e-commerce hub in the province.

He reaffirmed Bac Ninh’s commitment to creating a favorable investment environment and providing maximum support for enterprises, with the goal of developing the province into a major regional hub for logistics and e-commerce in the near future.
