Overview of the workshop.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial Cooperative Union, Pham Minh Hien, stated that the province currently has 2,136 cooperatives with over 120,000 members. In recent years, many cooperatives have innovated their production methods, applied science and technology, undergone digital transformation, and built supply chains, contributing to improved productivity, quality, and product value.

To date, Bac Ninh has 773 OCOP products, of which over 60% are produced by cooperatives and cooperative groups. Many products have built brands and successfully exported to demanding markets such as China, Japan, South Korea, the United States, the European Union, and many other countries. Typical examples include fine art wood products, bamboo shoots, lychees, bronze casting crafts, and processed agricultural products.

At the workshop, Mr. Mieu Abbas and other delegates focused on analyzing the potential, characteristics, and standards of the Halal market in general, the domestic Halal market, the Gulf countries, and the Halal markets of ASEAN countries. The role of Halal Vietnam in connecting and bringing high-quality products to consumers in Halal countries; the potential, opportunities, and difficulties and challenges for products from Bac Ninh province in general, and the cooperative and collective economic sector in the province in particular, in supplying products to the Halal market.

He also proposed solutions to strengthen communication, promotion, and introduction to the Halal market to businesses, cooperatives, and farmers; develop standards that meet the criteria of the Halal market; promote the role of the Provincial Cooperative Union, state management agencies, and localities in supporting cooperatives in building production chains, linkages, and product consumption according to Halal standards; and build trust and commitment with consumers in Halal countries.

The workshop aims to help cooperatives proactively innovate their production thinking, improve their capacity to meet international standards, gradually participate in the global Halal value chain, contribute to increasing the value of agricultural products, expanding export markets, and promoting sustainable development of the cooperative economic sector in Bac Ninh province in the coming time.
