CPI increases by 4.84% in first 6 months

(BNP) - In the first 6 months of 2020, prices of goods and services in the province had many complicated developments. Among 11 groups of essential commodities, there was a rise in prices, some items increased according to the seasonal rule, but there were also items that decreased in price due to reduced demand.

Food is one of the commodities with high consumer price index.

While gasoline and gas prices continued to decline in the first 4 months this year, one of the main reasons affecting the high CPI of the months was due to the impact of food products, especially pork prices. At the same time, due to the impact of Covid-19 epidemic, since the end of January 2020, the demand for some commodities such as medicine, health care, electricity, water has also increased, affecting the market price level.

In June, CPI increased by 0.85% over previous month and 4.67% compared same month of last year. In particular, a number of essential commodities continued to increase such as food group; housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials…

For the first 6 months of 2020, CPI increased by 4.84% compared to the same period of last year. There are 6 out of 11 commodity groups with increasing indexes including catering service; headwear and shoes; equipment and household appliances; medicine and health services; education and other goods and services.
