Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attends the second conference of environmental safety improvement

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Quynh visits the exhibition of environmental safety improvement application.

Presenting the conference included Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Le Tan Dung, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs; Mr. Shim Won Hwan, General Director of Samsung Vietnam; Representatives of several provincial departments and enterprises, which are grade-1 suppliers of Samsung Vietnam.

The conference of environmental safety improvement, an annual event held by Korean businesses, was started in 2013. Since 2017, in addition to holding a conference in Korea, this activity has widely deployed to overseas factories. In 2018, it will be implemented in four regions, including Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia, the Americas, China, and Vietnam, with a view to promoting the prevention of environmental safety incidents through the implementation of standards by environmental protection activities and sharing contents of environmental safety improvements among factories.

During the event, representatives of Samsung’s factories in Vietnam and their level-1 suppliers exchanged and shared experiences related to the application of systematization in environmental safety management, improving the working environment, protecting the workers’ health, building safe factories by scientific methods and volunteer activities... At the same time, the conference also introduced the exhibition of environmental safety improvement application of Samsung Vietnam and the area of safety experience of Samsung Display Vietnam Co. Ltd.

Attending the exhibition, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tu Quynh highly appreciated the law observance and innovations of environmental protection of Samsung Vietnam over recent years, making an important contribution to ensuring the health, safety for workers as well as the living environment.

Chairman Nguyen Tu Quynh stressed that after more than 20 years of re-establishment, Bac Ninh is one of the provinces where obtain the fastest socio-economic development speed across the country, especially in attracting foreign investment with over 1,200 enterprises, corporations from 33 countries, territories, including many enterprises of Korea. Over the past years, Bac Ninh province has always considered the issue of environmental protection the top priority.

Speaking of the second environmental safety improvement conference held in Bac Ninh, the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee said that it was a meaningful activity, a chance for Samsung’s factories and partners to learn, exchange experiences while raising the responsibility and create the extension in the work of environmental protection. Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee wished, Samsung continued its efforts, determination to implement the initiative as well as measures to protect the environment, making Samsung become the leading company on environmental safety, where has great attraction for employees. Bac Ninh province would always accompany the businesses in the process of production and business activities and environmental protection, for the prosperous and sustainable development.
