(BNP) – On the afternoon of June 25, the National Committee for Children convened a nationwide online conference to review the implementation of children's rights and child protection efforts in 2025 and the first half of 2026, while setting out priorities for the period ahead. The conference was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, Chairwoman of the National Committee for Children.

Vice Chairman Le Xuan Loi chairs the meeting.

At the Bac Ninh’s venue, Mr. Le Xuan Loi, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial Child Protection Fund Council, presided over the meeting. Attendees included representatives of the Provincial People’s Committee Office, the Departments of Health, Education and Training, Justice, Finance, the Provincial Police, and provincial socio-political organizations.

According to the conference report, child protection, care, and education continued to record encouraging progress nationwide. In Bac Ninh, all children under the age of six have been issued health insurance cards, while birth registration coverage has reached 100%. Children in especially difficult circumstances and victims of abuse have received timely assistance and intervention. Nevertheless, child abuse in cyberspace, accidents and injuries, and drowning remain pressing concerns that require stronger preventive measures and sustained attention.

In her concluding remarks, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra called on ministries, sectors, and local authorities to further improve the legal and policy framework for child protection, strengthen resource mobilization, accelerate digital transformation in child data management, and enhance the effectiveness of prevention, protection, and support services. She emphasized the need to ensure that every child can grow up, learn, and thrive in a safe, healthy, and supportive environment.

Immediately following the conference, Vice Chairman Le Xuan Loi directed provincial departments, agencies, and localities to promptly and effectively implement the assigned tasks. He assigned the Department of Health to take the lead in advising on the implementation of the Child Development Strategy for 2026–2030; instructed the Provincial Police to intensify efforts to prevent, detect, and strictly handle child abuse cases; and tasked the Department of Education and Training with strengthening life skills education and drowning prevention for children and students.

He also requested People’s Committees at the commune and ward levels to reinforce their responsibility for child protection, proactively identify children at risk, and maintain the effective operation of grassroots Child Protection Committees, thereby building a safer and more comprehensive support system for children across the province.
