Provincial leaders attend Japanese Cherry Blossom tree-planting ceremony at Nguyen Van Cu park
In the morning of March 13th, at Nguyen Van Cu park, Bac Ninh city People’s Committee hosted the ceremony of receiving and planting Japanese Cherry Blossom trees, gifted by Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association of Chukyo region.
Attending the ceremony included Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tu Quynh, Chairwoman of Provincial People’s Council Nguyen Huong Giang, and Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Huu Thanh. Also attending were leaders and officials from Provincial People’s Committee, representatives for various departments including the Department of Foreign Affair; the Department of Culture, Sport, and Tourism; and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Regarding the delegates from Japan, there were appearance of Mr. Asazuma Shinichi, minister counselor of the Japan Embassy in Vietnam, Mr. Kankeco, Former Senator and Former Minister of the Ministry of Construction and Mr. Toshimichi Maeda, Chairman of Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association of Chukyo region.

The Cherry Blossom is a symbol of Japan and is favored by the people of Vietnam. The “Cherry Blossom” project was started by Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association of Chukyo area in 2012. This is the second year Bac Ninh city’s People’s Committee received and hosted the Cherry Blossom planting ceremony. The tree-planting festival is an opportunity for the people of Bac Ninh to further discover the beauty of culture, nature, and human of Japan, trading experience and cooperation in culture, tourism, and economic between Bac Ninh city and various areas of Japan.
Given his speech at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh city People's Committee expressed the gratitude for the concerns of the Japanese people for Vietnam and especially for Bac Ninh over the years. Today, Bac Ninh is highly attractive for Japanese investors with 89 projects and a total of USD 1.2 billion of investment. With many cultural similarities, the province and Bac Ninh city have held many art and cultural exchange programs with many organizations of Japan. This event was even more meaningful because of its celebration on the occasion of receiving the decision to recognize the city as a First Tier Provincial City, and the opening of the 8th City’s Sport Games. This is an important landmark that recognizes and further nurtures the friendship between Japan and Vietnam in Bac Ninh.

After the receiving ceremony for 200 Cherry Blossom trees gifted by Japan-Vietnam Friendship Association of Chukyo area, the delegates planted these trees at Nguyen Van Cu park.
