(BNP) – On the morning of July 4, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Center for Science, Technology and Young Talents Development, in collaboration with the Industrial Technical College (Bac Ninh), hosted the opening ceremony of the Northern Regional Round of the 32nd National Youth Informatics Competition 2026.

Attending the program were leaders of the Department of Education and Training; Bac Ninh Provincial Youth Union; Industrial Technical College; and representatives of Provincial and Municipal Youth Unions with competing contestants.
In her opening remarks, Ms. Tran Huong Thao, representative of the Organizing Committee, stated that over 32 years of organization, the National Youth Informatics Competition had become a prestigious intellectual playground, an arena giving wings to many generations of students passionate about information technology, programming, and innovation. Not only a place for competition, the competition also created an environment for them to practice their thinking, courage, and creative capacity, step by step mastering digital technology, becoming digital citizens, and contributing to building a fast and sustainable national development in the digital era.

In 2026, the competition recorded its largest scale ever with 2,973 contestants participating in the Regional Round, a 30% increase compared to 2025. Among them, there were 1,222 contestants from the teams of 30 Provincial and Municipal Youth Unions and 1,751 independent contestants. The Northern region alone had the largest number of contestants in the country, with nearly 1,100 contestants coming from provinces and cities: Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, and Tuyen Quang.
Contestants participating in the competition were students of elementary, middle, and high schools or Vietnamese citizens in the corresponding age groups from elementary to high school nationwide. Among them, contestants having won the First Prize in the National Youth Informatics Competition were only allowed to compete at a higher educational level; contestants being non-specialized school students could register to participate in the specialized track; contestants could register to compete beyond their educational level.

Contestants chose to participate in appropriate exam divisions based on target groups. Division A: Programming skills competition for elementary school students (individual competition); Division B: Programming skills competition for middle school students (individual competition). Division C1: Programming skills competition for specialized high school students (team competition, each team has a maximum of 02 members). Division C2: Programming skills competition for non-specialized high school students (individual competition); Division D1: Creative product competition based on a given theme for elementary school students (team competition, each team has a maximum of 02 members, with the possibility of a guiding teacher). Divisions D2, D3: Creative product competition for middle and high school students (team competition, each team has a maximum of 02 members, with the possibility of a guiding teacher). Divisions M1, M2: Logical mathematics and algorithmic thinking competition for elementary and middle school students (individual competition).
At the end of the Regional Round, the Organizing Committee would select the best contestants to participate in the Final Round of the 32nd National Youth Informatics Competition, 2026, which was expected to be held in Lam Dong province in late August 2026.

The Competition aimed to concrete and effectively implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation; Action Program No. 20-CTHD/TWDTN-KHCN of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW. At the same time, it created a creative environment for children and youth, discovering and nurturing information technology talents, enhancing digital capacity, and encouraging students to apply knowledge and skills to build practical ideas and products. Thereby, it contributed to improving the quality of the young human resources, labor productivity, and national competitiveness in the new period./.
