Ambassador of the Philippines to Vietnam received by Chairman of People’s Committee of Bac Ninh
In the afternoon of August 18th 2017, Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to Vietnam, Mr. Noel Servigon. Attending the meeting were leaders of Department of Foreign Affairs and Industrial Zone Authority.
Addressing at the reception, Mr. Noel Servigon gave a great honor for the warm welcome of the leaders, and expressed his admiration for the culture rich and steeped in culture and tradition as well as the great achievements in socio-economic development of Bac Ninh. The Ambassador expressed his deep sense of gratitude to the provincial leaders to care for and facilitate 02 businesses from the Philippines, which are Liwayway and Oishi, to implement investment projects in this province. He expressed his wish that two sides would continue promoting business cooperation between the Philippines and Bac Ninh enterprises in the coming time.

On behalf of provincial leaders, Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh was delighted to welcome the Ambassador’s visit to Bac Ninh, as well as introduced some overview of socio-economic achievements for the past few years. With the favorable geopolitical and geo-economic position and the open investment policy, Bac Ninh has been a fast growing province with many leading indicators of the country, such as ranked 6th in the economic scale, ranked 2nd in the value of the industrial production. Total export value reached nearly $ 25 billion. As of July 2017, Bac Ninh has attracted over 1,000 FDI projects from over 30 countries and territories with total registered capital about $12.5 billion, especially from Samsung, Pepsi Co., Canon, Microsoft, etc. Foreign enterprises in Bac Ninh have always been facilitated and supported to develop and contribute to the socio-economic development of the province.
Along with the development of the economy, Bac Ninh also devotes a lot of resources to develop education, health and social welfare policies. Bac Ninh is known as a rich land with cultural heritage and traditions, a home of thousands of historical and cultural sites, notably Quan Ho- the folk songs, which is recognized as intangible cultural heritage of mankind by UNESCO.
The Chairman hoped that the Ambassador would be a bridge for the citizens and investors of the Philippines to know the potential of tourism, culture and economic development of Bac Ninh province, thus contributing to the cooperation between the Philippines and Vietnam in general, and Bac Ninh in particular.
After the meeting, Mr. Noel Servigon visited several prominent factories and historical sites of the province.
