Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van Phong meets and works with the Kenan Foundation
On December 04th, Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee met and worked with Mr. Richard Bernhard - CEO of the Kenan Foundation on the progress of the Raising Awareness and Practice under International Labor Standards (ILS) Project in Bac Ninh. Attending the meeting were representatives of the departments including Foreign Affairs; Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and Industrial Zone Authority.
At the meeting, Mr. Richard Bernhard expressed his gratitude to provincial leaders for the attention and facilitation so that the project was carried out and achieved some good results. After its nearly three-month-launching, the Kenan Foundation took survey and collected information on the production situation, the quantity, the age, the gender, the needs of workers and working conditions at 22 enterprises. The very first result is to receive the support and participation of businesses.
From December 2017 to March 2018, the Kenan Foundation will set up a Project Advisory Board, organize a meeting to introduce and call for participation in the project, train key staff.

On behalf of the PPC’s leader, Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Phong appreciated the initial results of the project and briefed on the achievements in socio-economic development of the province over the past years. Thanks to favorable location and attractive preferential policies, Bac Ninh is one of the provinces with fast growth speed with many indicators ranking on top of the country, notably, FDI attraction gained over 1000 projects with total registered capital of USD 16.3 billion, Vice Chairman said.
At present, Bac Ninh has 13 integrated industrial parks with over 260,000 employees. For the best implementation of the project, the Vice Chairman assigned the Industrial Zones Authority in coordination with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Provincial Labor Federation, the Provincial Women's Union to appoint qualified staffs to participate in the project and facilitate the Kenan doing the project as planned. In the process of implementation, if any difficulties arise, the departments have responsibility to report to the Provincial People's Committee for timely resolution.
