Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee receives and works with Kenan Foundation Asia (Thailand)
In the morning of 31st July 2017, Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh – Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee (PPC) met and worked with Kenan Foundation Asia (Thailand) led by Mr. Richard Bernhard – Chief Executive Officer. Attending the meeting were leaders of PPC Office; Departments of: Foreign Affairs; Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and Industrial Zones Authority.

At the meeting, Mr. Richard Bernhard thanked Mr. Chairman for receiving the delegation and briefed on Kenan Foundation. Being established in 1996 in Thailand, Kenan Foundation Asia’s programs have focused on 4 developed fields: science – education, economic, public health and other social activities. These programs have received supports from governments of USA, Thailand and some other nations. In Vietnam, Kenan Foundation’s Office was established in 1996; with cooperation of VCCI, in 1998, Kenan Vietnam launched the projects of developing science technology, supporting female labors at Hanoi, Hochiminh City, Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh in order to improve ability and awareness as well as provide soft skills to labors and government authorities.
Mr. Nguyen Tu Quynh thanked Kenan Foundation Asia for visiting and paying attention to labor-social issues in the province. He also briefed an overview of provincial geography, economic-social development and cultural traditions. Currently, Bac Ninh has got 10,000 enterprises investing in, including 1,000 FDI ones from 33 countries and territories with about 250,000 employees, in which female ones account for 70%. Bac Ninh is interested in sustainable development of human, enterprises and locality. In the 2020s, Bac Ninh would try to become a municipality of Vietnam. Mr. Chairman hoped that support from Kenan Foundation for labor development in industrial parks would contribute to economic-social development of the province. At the meeting, Mr. Chairman also assigned the Industrial Zones Authority to be the leading agency in cooperation with related departments and Kenan Foundation in order to complete and soon launch the project named Improving awareness and practicing international labor standards in the province.
